Road Closures

Road Closure Information

The 2025 Christchurch Marathon is returning to the streets of Christchurch on Sunday 13 April 2025, starting at 7:30am. Road closures are in place from 4:00am to 3:00pm. There will be crowd noise and PA announcements during the event at Hagley Park and around the course between 7:00am and 5:00pm.

Approved Road Closures

An extensive traffic management plan will be in place. The road closures mean that public vehicles will be unable to use the closed roads during the specified times due to safety and operational requirements. Detours to minimise delays and impacts will be installed, signposted and actively managed to ensure the safety of all participants and road users.

Emergency service and hospital vehicle access will be maintained at all times.

  • Park in an easy to get to area and walk to and from your destination.

  • Bus services will continue to operate, but may experience short delays.

  • You will be able to walk across the marathon route.
